Mursargaz P1000 netted sargassum barriers are specially designed for the containment and diversion of sargassum.
The Mursargaz
These barriers allow sargassum or other algae to be retained while allowing water to pass through its netting. This reduces the risk of being damaged by waves, as well as facilitating the process of aggregating the twill on one side of the barrier. The barrier is designed to stay afloat at a specific distance to maximise the amount of twill it holds back, making it impossible for twill to pass over it. Part of the barrier is submerged to greatly reduce the amount of sargassum that can sneak underneath due to a large accumulation of algae. This is easy to negate completely with the help of boats and proper maintenance.
Properties
- Good stability in strong winds and currents.
- High resistance to drag and abrasion.
- Maintains buoyancy even when damaged.
- Easily repairable, all components can be replaced on site.
Relevant information
Mursargaz barriers are manufactured from a tough PVC coated polyester net fabric and the floats, made from high density polyethylene filled with polyurethane foam, are attached in pairs trapping the barrier fabric between them, resulting in a very strong construction that is easy to maintain and repair on site. Mursargaz barriers are available in 25 metre or 50 metre x 1 metre high lengths and can be supplied with reflectors at the ends of each barrier section to increase the visibility of the barrier.

In a world where the health of our oceans is increasingly crucial, the fight against sargassum has become a priority for many coastal communities. The Syrennis 5.5 clean-up vessel emerges as a cutting-edge and effective solution to this environmental challenge.Sargassum, a floating macroalgae, can cause serious problems when it accumulates in large quantities along coastlines:
- It damages marine ecosystems by blocking sunlight and depleting oxygen from the water.
- It negatively affects tourism, deteriorating the beauty of beaches and generating unpleasant odours.
- It impacts the local economy by hindering activities such as fishing and water sports.
The Syrennis 5.5 presents itself as an essential tool in this battle. Its specialised design allows it to:
- Efficiently collect large quantities of sargassum before it reaches the shore.
- Operate in conditions of strong waves and currents, typical of areas affected by sargassum.
- Clean large areas of water in a short time, thanks to its working speed and wide coverage.
By investing in technologies such as the Syrennis 5.5, coastal communities not only protect their beaches and economies, but also contribute to the preservation of marine ecosystems. This vessel represents a step forward in our collective responsibility to care for our oceans and coasts for future generations. fighting sargassum is more than just a clean-up task; it is a commitment to sustainability and ecological balance. With the Syrennis 5.5, we have a powerful ally in this important mission.
